Local History Section

The aim of this section is to encourage and promote the study of local history in Hampshire, both through the section's own activities and by support of, and liason with, individual local history societies throughout the county.

We organize an annual conference and AGM in the Autumn usually with the help of a local society, a Summer outing, and a Spring symposium as well as other occasional courses and events.

Events in 2008

Spring Symposium - was held on 26th April in the Hampshire Record Office Cinema on the topic of Agriculture in Hampshire

Summer Outing - Nether Wallop and Houghton Lodge will be visited on Saturday 12th July 2008 from 10.00-4.00.

Articles in the Newsletter include book reviews, details of new accessions in the Hampshire Record Office and new local publications, and brief pieces on aspects of Hampshire's history.

The Section has close ties with the Hampshire Record Office and with the local history section of the County Library.
